mon/ma

Hi, why is it “avec mon amie, Annie”?

Annie is a woman, so shouldn’t it be “avec ma amie, Annie”?

Hi Brian, you’re right that amie is feminine and ma, ta, sa, etc are used with feminine nouns while mon, ton, son, etc with masculine. But you also use mon, ton, son before words that start with a vowel or with an ‘h’ as with mon amie. It also helps with pronunciation. Hope this helps.
