Pronounciation of moins extraverti

Question

Bonjour.  I notice that the 's' of moins is not pronounced even though a vowel follows.  Is this just a rule, that you don't 'faire la liaison' with the word 'moins'?

This is a very good question. It seems that in 'modern' (spoken / informal) French, the liaison with 'moins + word' is becoming optional despite the fact that 'moins' is part of a list of adverbs (très, moins, mieux, plus, bien, trop)where the liaison should be made.

There is a limited number of liaisons that are required. Optional liaisons are used less in everyday, informal speech than in formal speech, so often will not be heard. Liaison with «moins vowel» is not forbidden («moins un» being an example of acceptable usage)

However some liaisons are forbidden (moins onze liaison is not allowed because of onze, not moins)
