Hi there,
can anybody help with why que appears in the following sentence, please? "Tu dormiras dans le meme hotel que la derniere fois". The translation I have is "will you sleep in the same hotel as last time". I've not come across que as a translation for 'as' before.

There are many examples of ‘ (le or la ) même … que … ‘ representing a phrase that in English could or would be written as ‘ the same (thing) as … ‘. Que cannot be left out in this structure in French.
Translation is contextual - don’t get hung up on specific word to word translations. The French means what the French says in French - the English is a translation to an English phrase that represents the same/similar idea.
In both languages, a full sentence could include ‘ repetition ‘ of the first part of the sentence, but that would also be cumbersome in both !
