pourquoi quand vous dîtes “ J’arrive au “travail” vers neuf heures etc’ travail est masculin quand même nous connaissons la personne est feminine.... Et son amie Annie “travaille” à coté de son bureau ??

Hi PJ,
You are confusing the noun 'travail' which is masculine as in -
J'arrive au travail = I arrive at work
and the verb 'travailler' which has no gender it is just the way it is conjugated:
Je travaille
Tu travailles
Elle/il/on travaille
etc.

I arrive at work - not - I arrive (in order) to work which I think "J'arrive pour travailler" Is this £22 billion black hole.
