Spelling of essaie

A correction for the phrase "quand j'essaie de manger" changed my spelling "essaie" to "essaye" and I do not understand why. Thank you for your explanation.

Both 'j'essaie' and 'j'essaye de manger' should be accepted and if this is not the case please use your 'report it' button on your correction board.
